Hyster Forklift Parts

Hyster parts for the trucks working across the Inland Empire: pneumatic-tire H series and cushion-tire S series trucks, E and J series electrics, and the reach trucks and walkies behind them. Give us the serial number and we match the part to your truck's design series, quote it, and ship it. Most in-stock parts go out the same day.

Have this ready

  • Serial number from the data plate. The letter and three digits at the front, like D187, are the series code.
  • Model such as S50FT, H50FT or E50XN.
  • Old part number if you have it. If not, tell us what the truck is doing.

Before you order

Know your Hyster

Hyster parts go by series, not just model

Hyster organizes its parts lists by design series: the letter and three digits at the front of the serial number. D187, for example, covers the S40XM through S65XM. The model name alone is not enough, because Hyster reuses it across generations. An S50 has been built as an XL, an XM and an FT, and each generation has its own parts list. That is why the serial number is the first thing we ask for.

Where to find the serial number

The data plate is near the dash or the operator's seat. If the plate is missing or unreadable, the serial number is also stamped into the frame, in a spot that depends on the series. Send a photo and we will help you find it. The last letter of the serial is a year code. Hyster's letters repeat every 23 years, so you need to know the decade to read it.

Hyster and Yale are often the same truck underneath

Hyster and Yale have been one company since 1989, and many later trucks share platforms, engines and components. That widens your options, since the right part for a Hyster is sometimes listed under Yale. It is not automatic, especially on trucks designed before the merger, so we cross-reference by series and you get the part that fits the badge on your truck.

Engine parts go by the engine

Hyster IC trucks have run several engines over the years, including GM 2.4L and Mazda 2.0L and 2.2L gas and LP engines and Yanmar and Kubota diesels. Filters, ignition parts, water pumps and gaskets follow the engine, so tell us what is under the hood or send a photo of the engine tag.

How to read a Hyster model
H Gas, LP or diesel truck on pneumatic tires, for yards and outdoor work e.g. H50FT
S Gas, LP or diesel truck on cushion tires, for warehouse floors e.g. S50FT
E Electric counterbalanced truck on cushion tires e.g. E50XN
J Electric counterbalanced truck on pneumatic tires e.g. J50XN
W Walkie pallet truck e.g. W40Z

The number is rated capacity in hundreds of pounds: 50 means 5,000 lb. The letters after it are the generation, and the generation changes the parts.

Diagnose before you buy

Common Hyster problems and where we would look first

Common Hyster forklift symptoms and likely causes
Symptom Where we would look first
Mast drifts down under load Lift cylinder seals or the holding valve. Send the series code, because seal kits change between generations of the same model.
Will not move in one direction The direction switch, or the Monotrol pedal assembly on trucks that have one. Both cost far less to test than a transmission.
Hard starting or stalling on LP The LPG regulator or converter, the lock-off, or a vacuum leak. Check those before anyone opens the engine.
Soft pedal or pulling when braking Wheel cylinders and shoes first, then the master cylinder. Replace shoes on both sides.
E or J series truck runs slow or cuts out Battery connector and cables, contactor tips and motor brushes, well before the controller.
Steering heavy or loose Steer cylinder seals, king pins and steer axle bushings.

General guidance only. Always follow the manufacturer's service manual and lock out equipment before working on it.

Straight answers

Hyster forklift parts: your questions answered

Where is the serial number on a Hyster forklift?
On the data plate near the dash or operator's seat, and stamped into the frame. The first four characters, a letter and three digits such as D187, are the design series, and Hyster's parts lists are organized by it. If the plate is gone, send us photos and we will help you identify the truck.
Are Hyster and Yale parts interchangeable?
Often, but not automatically. The two brands have been one company since 1989 and many later models share platforms, engines and components. Trucks designed before the merger are separate designs. We cross-reference by series, so the part fits whichever badge is on your truck.
Do you sell genuine Hyster parts or aftermarket?
Mostly quality aftermarket, which is where the savings are: filters, seals, brakes, chain, electrical parts and tires built to the same specifications for less than dealer list. For warranty repairs, structural parts and dealer-programmed electronics, buy from a Hyster dealer, and we will tell you when that is the case. The full breakdown is in aftermarket vs. OEM forklift parts.
Can you get parts for older Hyster trucks?
Yes. The aftermarket keeps making parts long after a model leaves production, so XL and XM-era trucks are well covered. Older trucks are where the series code matters most, so have the serial number ready.
Are you a Hyster dealer?
No. Herb Grady Company is an independent, family-owned parts supplier. For a new truck, warranty work or dealer service, go to a Hyster dealer. For parts to keep the truck you already own running, call us. No account and no minimum order.
How fast can I get Hyster parts in the Inland Empire?
Most in-stock parts ship the same day. We are in Lake Elsinore and ship across Riverside and San Bernardino counties, from Temecula and Corona to Ontario, Fontana and Colton, and nationwide. We give you a real delivery date on the phone, not an optimistic one.

Got the serial number off the plate?

Read us the model and the first four characters of the serial, and we will take it from there.
